Extension Home Care

Please do not wash your hair for 24-48hours to allow your newly applied extensions to adhere completely

Brushing

  • Use the brush recommended by your stylist to brush your hair a minimum of 3-5 times a day.

  • Gather the hair into a ponytail and securely hold close to the scalp. Begin brushing from the ends, carefully working your way up towards the scalp.

  • Be sure to brush the scalp area and separate extensions as suggested by your stylist (i-tip & k-tip) require separation nightly).

  • Brushing your Hair before it gets wet will keep the hair from tangling while washing.

Washing & Conditioning

  • Brush extensions thoroughly before washing to remove any tangles.

  • Now that your hair is thicker, you may decide to divide the hair into sections on either side of the head to wash or multiple pony tails and wash section by section.

  • Avoid Washing in overly warm water. The cooler the temperature the less residue will be left during maintenance.

Shampoo

  • Use a sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo

  • Begin at the scalp and massage shampoo into hair using a "Z" formation. Do not use a circular motion or flip head upside down and this creates tangles

  • Part hair and rinse all the way to the scalp. If you used the ponytail method to section hair, rinse one at a time. Follow up with a final rinse.

Conditioner

  • Use sulfate-free and paraben-free conditioner

  • Apply conditioner from mid-shaft to the tips of your hair and leave on for 3-5minutes. NOTE: Adding conditioner near the point of installation may lead to shorten lifespan of your extension installation.

  • Rinse Completely.

Drying

  • Towel or air dry your hair as much as possible before using a blow dryer.

  • The use of a leave-in conditioners, heat protectants as well as treatment oils from mid-shaft to ends is recommended to protect your extensions.

  • Using a blow dryer, rough-dry the hair.

  • Starting at the ends and working your way up towards the scalp, round brush the hair.

  • Always dry the roots at the connection point of the extensions to maximize the lifespan of your installation.

Sleeping

  • Use a sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo

  • Begin at the scalp and massage shampoo into hair using a "Z" formation. Do not use a circular motion or flip head upside down and this creates tangles

  • Part hair and rinse all the way to the scalp. If you used the ponytail method to section hair, rinse one at a time. Follow up with a final rinse.

Swimming

  • We do NOT suggest swimming with hair extensions. However if you do take to the water, make sure to put your extensions in 2 simple braids or 2 bubble braids.

  • We do NOT suggest french, dutch or fishtail braids before swimming. This will likely result in tangling and may damage your extensions.

Styling tools

  • Hair Extensions are safe to use with thermal tools like curling wands, flat irons, etc. Use caution and refrain from using extra high temperatures.

Products

  • Your hair extensions will need more care and likely different products than you are using on your native hair.

  • If you are to use a silky hair texture, please note that hair extensions typically have more of a cotton texture.

  • Hair extensions are real hair that have been through processing. You will notice that you may need more moisturizing and smoothing products than you are used to.

  • For styling, please ask your stylist to recommend the right leave-ins to help keep your hair feeling soft and healthy.

Maintenance Visits

  • We recommend 4-6 week visits. This will depend on your hair growth and shedding rate. If you choose to go longer, we can not guarantee matting or tangles and damage may occur to the natural hair.

  • There may be an additional charge for removal if matting or tangling occurs and more time is needed.
